As many as 7,765 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded in the last 24 hours in Romania, down 852 from the previous day, with over 25,000 RT-PCR and rapid antigenic tests performed, the Health Ministry informed on Friday.

Of the new cases, 1,472 were in re-infected patients, who tested positive more than 90 days after the first time they recovered from the disease.

Most of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Romania since the previous reporting were recorded in Bucharest City - 1,436, and in the counties of Sibiu - 520, Timis - 386, Constanta - 383, Cluj - 371, and Ilfov - 322.

The 14-day notification rate nationwide is 4.01 cases per 1,000 population.

The highest rate is in Bucharest City - 9.92, followed by the counties of Ilfov - 7.16, Cluj - 9.25, Ilfov - 7.16, Sibiu - 7.15, Constanta - 6.45, Brasov - 6.4, and Timis - 6.35.

As of Friday, 3,106,033 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania.

- Hospitalisations -

As many as 4,103 people with COVID-19, up 96 from the previous reporting, including 567 minors, are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities.

Out of the total number of hospitalised patients, 258 patients, down 25, including four minors, are in intensive care.

Of the 258 patients admitted to ICU, 221 are unvaccinated against COVID-19.

- Deaths -

According to the ministry, 26 Romanians, nine men and 17 women, infected with SARS-CoV-2 are reported dead in the last 24 hours.

Of the 26 deaths, one was recorded in the age group 20-29 years, one in the age group 50-59 years, four in the age group 60-69 years, six in the age group 70-79 years, and 14 in the age group over 80 years.

All deaths were in patients with comorbidities, and five deaths were in unvaccinated patients.
