Tennis: Mihaela Buzarnescu qualifies for quarterfinals of WTA tournament in Linz

Romanian tennis player Mihaela Buzarnescu qualified for the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Linz (Austria), with total prizes of 226,750 dollars on Wednesday evening, after a remarkable victory over Croatian Ajla Tomljanovic, with the score of 4-6, 7-6 (1), 6-1.

Buzarnescu (29 years old, 105th in WTA), who will enter the top 100 for the first time on Monday, has managed the best result of her career, alongside the qualifying on the main board of US Open this year.

Mihaela Buzarnescu won after two hours and 18 minutes versus a 24-year-old player, who ranks 177th in the world's hierarchy. Tomljanovic ranked 47th in February 2015.

The Romanian player secured a check of 4,758 euros and 78 WTA points. Mihaela will play in quarterfinals with Swiss Belinda Bencic.

Buzarnescu is also qualified in the doubles' quarterfinals, alongside Oksana Kalashnikova (Georgia).
