Final energy consumption down 1.2 pct in first seven months

The final electricity consumption dropped by 1.2 pct in the first seven months of this year as compared to the same period in 2016, to almost 31.8 billion kWh, reads a press release of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) sent on Tuesday to AGERPRES.

"The final electricity consumption during this period was 31.796 billion kWh, 1.2 pct lower than in the corresponding period of 2016. Public lighting decreased by 7.5 pct and household consumption declined by 2.6 pct. The export of electricity exceeded 4.162 billion kWh, down 489.4 million kWh. Technological own consumption in networks and stations was 3.527 billion kWh, down by 4.7 million kWh," reads the document.

According to INS, the primary energy resources grew by 3.5 pct between January and July 2017 and electricity prices decreased by 2.2 pct against the same period of the previous year.

"The main primary energy resources between January 1 and July 31, 2017, totalled as many as 19.293 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), up 653,700 toe Y-o-Y. Domestic output amounted to 12.255 million toe, an increase of 409,000 toe as compared to the same interval of the previous year, and the import stood at 7.038 million toe. During this interval, the electricity resources were 39.486 billion kWh, decreasing by 879.4 million kWh, as compared to the corresponding period of 2016," the INS informs.

The production of the power plants was over 16.214 billion kWh, up by 1.853 billion kWh (+ 12.9 pct). The hydro power plants production stood at 9.243 billion kWh, down 3.332 billion kWh (-26.5 pct), and the nuclear power plant output was 6.492 billion kWh, up 240.6 million kWh (+3, 8 pct).
