"Gr. Vasiliu Birlic" International Theatre Festival for Youth to take place for a week in Falticeni

The 7th edition of the "Gr. Vasiliu Birlic" International Theatre Festival for Youth kicks off on Monday in Falticeni, with six days of celebration in the memory of Birlic to follow, and tens of personalities invited.

Thus, over August 21-27, more than 30 cultural personalities from Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine will participate in the events organized in the heart of Falticeni, the home town of the great actor Grigore Vasiliu Birlic, organisers informed in a release remitted to AGERPRES.

Among the guests of honour coming this year to Falticeni there will be Draga Olteanu-Matei, Adela Marculescu, Magda Catone, Claudiu Bleont, Priest Constantin Necula, Bogdan Stanoevici, Dan Tudor, Ileana Popovici, Dragos Huluba, Violeta Huluba, Carmen Olaru, Ion Moldovan and Vlad Radescu. The entrance is free of charge.

Ten theatre companies have registered in the competition, from the Republic of Moldova, Ramnicu Sarat, Piatra Neamt, Osica de Sus, Galati, Pascani, Focsani, Iasi and Sebes. Among them Studio 'InVers' Theatre — from Chisinau (Basarabia), the 'Gong cARTe' theatre company — Ramnicu Sarat, 'Teen Act' theatre company — Piatra Neamt, 'Inspira(r)t' theatre company—Osica de Sus and 'Katharsis' theatre company — Galati. The jury of the festival is made up of: Ileana Popovici, Vlad Radescu, Lorette Enache, Gheorghe Balint and Radmila Popovici.

On the same occasion there will also be organised in Falticeni a Photo Exhibition belonging to AGERPRES. This year, AGERPRES will offer its audience a special exhibition, which is part of a larger project called "Discover the AGERPRES Photo Archive."

AGERPRES holds an ample archive of pictures, which includes millions of images dated from 1927 until today. Both the photo archive and the news archive operate today under the Documentary-Archive Department, with its mission to capitalize on this patrimony of written news and image. The photo exhibition within the "Gr.V. Birlic" Theatre Festival will be open to visitors during the entire time of the event, being hosted by the Falticeni House of Culture.
