Romania's industrial output advances 8.0pct in H1 2017

Romania's industrial production was up 8.0 percent, in the first half of 2017, in raw series, and 8.9 percent when adjusted for working days and seasonality, y-o-y, according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) released on Friday.

Also in June 2017, industrial output declined from the previous month, both in raw data and adjusted for working days and seasonality, by 4.9 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively.

Compared with the same month of the year before, industrial output grew by 8.9 percent in raw series and by 11.1 percent when adjusted for working days and seasonality.

In H1 2017, compared with H1 2016, industrial production (raw series) increased by 8.0 percent on increases in manufacturing (+8.7 percent), mining and quarrying (+2.9 percent) and production and delivery of electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+2.6 percent).

Adjusted for working days and seasonality, the H1 2017 industrial production compared with H1 2016 grew by 8.9 percent as a result of rises in manufacturing (+8.7 percent), production and delivery of electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+3.2 percent) and mining and quarrying (+1.9 percent).

According to INS, the June 2017 industrial production (raw series) decreased by 4.9 percent on a monthly basis, due to decreases in manufacturing (-5.4 percent) and mining and quarrying (-3.7 percent ). Production and delivery of electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning increased by 1.5 percent.

Adjusted for working days and seasonality, it was down 1.4 percent on a monthly basis. Manufacturing and mining and quarrying decreased by 2.5 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively, while production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning increased by 2.1 percent.

Compared with the same month of the previous year, industrial output (raw series) increased by 8.9 percent, supported by increases in mining and quarrying (+12.4 percent) and manufacturing (+9.5 percent). Production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning decreased by 0.5 percent.

Adjusted for working days and seasonality, industrial output increased by 11.1 percent as a result of increases in mining and quarrying (+12.3 percent) and manufacturing (+11.4 percent). Production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning decreased by 0.5 percent.
