The pair made of Romanian tennis player Horia Tecau and Dutch Jean-Julien Rojer has qualified for the round of 16 of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Canada doubles tournament in Montreal, equipped with total prizes worth 4,662,300 dollars, after defeating, 7-6 (7), 7-5, the couple Santiago Gonzales (Mexico)/Donald Young (US).

Tecau and Rojer won in 1 hour and 23 minutes, with 7 aces and 5 doubles faults recorded on their part during the game.

The Romanian-Dutch pair secured a cheque worth 18,050 dollars and 90 ATP points for going this far in the competition.

In the next round, Tecau and his partner will meet the main seeds of the tournament, Henri Kontinen (Finland)/John Peers (Australia). The score between the two pairs is equal, after Kontinen and Peers imposed themselves last year, in the round of 16 of the Monte Carlo tournament, with 6-2, 6-3, and Tecau and Rojer beat them this year in Dubai, in the semifinals, 7-6 (8), 6-3.

Tecau played the semifinals of the Montreal competition last year, when he played next to Florin Mergea, before participating in the Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro where they won the silver medal.
