Dan Chisu: "The Anniversary" is a movie about faith; the writing comes from the atheist in me

"The Anniversary," the last movie in which great actor Mircea Albulescu starred is one about faith, declared director Dan Chisu Tuesday evening, at the preview projection of his feature film at the Anonimul Festival.

"It took a little longer to finish because, unfortunately, Mr. Albulescu wasn't able to see the movie," said Dan Chisu.

"It is a movie about faith and the writing comes from the atheist in me," confessed the director.

Emanuel Parvu, who is part of the cast, talked about his collaboration with Dan Chisu.

"What I like about him, as a director, is that he can put people on the rails without constraining them. This is one of his biggest qualities, making you believe you are doing things from your head, but he has a really subtle way to infiltrate your mind," said the actor.

The cast is completed by Razvan Vasilescu, Emilia Dobrin, Lucian Ifrim, Dana Voicu, Coca Bloos, Andra Chisu, Ingrid Berescu.

The feature tells the story of Radu Maligan's 94th anniversary, played by Mircea Albulescu. Family and former colleagues meet at the old man's party. The situation becomes complicated when half of the guests try to convince the old man to confess to a priest.

The Anonimul International Independent Film Festival takes place at Sfantu Gheorghe, in the Danube Delta, until Sunday. The special guest of the event is Mexican director Michel Franco.
