PSD's Dragnea: Expect to be heard by Kovesi for everything happening in this country, even if it rains

Deputies' Chamber Speaker, Liviu Dragnea, Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader, said on Friday that he expects to be heard by the anti-corruption prosecutors "for everything that happens in the country, even if it rains," because he represents "a target" for the head of the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA), Laura-Codruta Kovesi.

Quizzed if he expects to be heard on the Tel Drum case, Dragnea replied: "I expect to be heard by Mrs. Kovesi for whatever happens in this country, even if it rains. I do not think it's a secret to anyone that I have been this lady's target for a long time. I have no connection with Tel Drum. Tel Drum has been talked about for 12 years, and I do not think somebody is child enough to believe that the investigations that have been made public by various websites were the result of research conducted by those sites. Information from inside the DNA was released so that the beginning of investigations would be justified. This would be the 10th, 15th, 20th investigation about that company. I have nothing to do with that company, but I kind of had enough of it."

He also showed that Bombonica Prodana is heard "only because she was his wife".

"Why was she called in? Because she was my wife, that was her only fault, and I will never forgive myself for that. She is sent to trial because she is my wife and is now being investigated because she was my wife. And I will tell more, I am just waiting for events to unfold. Because if those who have held some positions or who are now holding some positions think I am amnesiac, they are utterly wrong," the PSD leader said.

According to him, "the concept of fair investigation is out of the question" as far as he is concerned.

"I understand that I am responsible for everything that is happening in Romania, not only in Teleorman [county — ed.n] but in general. I understood that a lady on a television confessed what pressures and threats she has been subject to in order to say something about me, anything. I understand this is how investigations are carried out in Romania. Of course this already seems trivial, so fair investigations, observing procedures, that's out of the question. Mrs. Patru, I have read and I want to tell you that I was terrified ... (...) I read the DNA release [regarding Adrian Gadea — former president of CJ Teleorman — ed.n.]. I do not quite understand. So it is about a piece of land that has been transferred to a public authority, along other tens or hundreds of transfers that took place in Romania, and when something like this gets transferred, it is done so with rights but also with obligations. Since it has been transferred with rights and obligations, I do not understand where their mistake lies, but I do not know what they have written there. Could direct entrustment be a problem? I am neither a legal expert nor a lawyer. But when something is transferred, it is transferred with rights and obligations and the County Council subrogates the Romanian Waters' rights and obligations," the Deputies' Chamber Speaker said.AGERPRES(RO — author: Catalina Matei, editor: Georgiana Tanasescu; EN — author: Simona Iacob, editor: Maria Voican; online editor: Maria Voican)
