Two public diplomacy manifestations dedicated to the International Francophonie Day will be organized on Monday, in the Capital, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), in collaboration with the Bucharest City Hall and the Ministry of Culture and National Identity.

According to a release of the MAE remitted on Sunday to AGERPRES, from 11:00 hrs onward, Francophonie Square will see the inauguration ceremony for the bust of Leopold Sedar Senghor, one of the founding fathers of the institutional Francophonie, a prestigious political and cultural personality of Senegal.
"Thus, the 'Francophonie Square' city monument will be completed, a one of a kind in Europe inaugurated in 2013," MAE mentions.
A delegation led by the Senegalese Minister of Culture and Communications will participate in the ceremony.
Furthermore, the I.L. Caragiale National Theatre will organize the Francophonie Evening, which includes a musical moment by Cantata — the Romanian Youth Orchestra and the awarding of the Francophonie Awards, on behalf of the Group of Francophonie Embassies, delegations and institutions (GADIF).
The events will see the participation of representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest, officials, representatives of public administration, civil society, political and cultural figures, journalists, members of university and academic circles.
Furthermore, the diplomatic missions of Romania will organize in their host countries a series of cultural and public diplomacy manifestations dedicated to the International Francophonie Day — conferences, symposiums, exhibitions, cultural evenings—, MAE mentions.
As a member state of the Organisation of La Francophonie (OLF), Romania celebrates, each year, on March 20, the International Francophonie Day, together with the other 83 members and observers of the OLF.
