Bucharest, Jan 14 / Agerpres / - The emergence of the first private institute for drones in Romania, which has launched a national alert system for such unmanned aircraft, helps authorities to ensure a "safe sky" for all those using it, Remus Dogaru, a senior official with the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority (AACR), told AGERPRES on Thursday.

"The AACR welcomes any initiative which purpose is to identify and implement measures that result in increasing the relevant safety or raising users' awareness about the dangers of uncontrolled use of new technologies in aviation. In this context, the emergence of the Institute for Training, Education and Research for Unmanned Vehicles Systems in Medias, its involvement in an area so topical - unmanned aircraft - supports the AACR efforts to provide a 'safe sky' to all those using it," said Remus Dogaru.

According to him, "the AACR has identified a number of 130 unmanned aircraft that are used in various aerial work activities and / or general aviation (filming and aerial photography, aerial surveillance, etc)."

The drone owners in Romania can avoid accidents by announcing where, when, and at what height they fly them, by registering for free on the website of the first private institute for drones, established in the city of Medias (Sibiu County), Octavian Isaila, one of the founders of the said institute, told AGERPRES on Thursday.

The AACR official says that currently "the uncontrolled use of unmanned aircraft is a problem not only of Romania".

The national private alert system for drones created in Medias is considered "an unexpected and innovative step from civil society. (...) On the same line, we invite all users of such devices to come to the AACR to identify these aircraft," added the AACR representative.

The Institute for Training, Education and Research for Unmanned Vehicle Systems was set up by 14 founding members from all over Romania. Octavian Isaila is the owner the first drone officially identified in Romania. AGERPRES
