Bucharest, April 4 /Agerpres/ - Romanian tennis sensation Simona Halep, world No. 3, wrote on her official Facebook page that although she lost in the Miami Open semifinals, the match against Serena Williams has enriched her, as did the other encounters with the US champion.
''In the past 4 weeks, I have proven to myself that if I want it keenly enough, if I don't give up, if I don't abandon the game before I finish it, I can reach increasingly further. Yesterday's match with Serena Williams wasn't played with the score on my mind, it was a match I played seeking that moment where I break through to playing my best tennis. I left the court with the satisfaction that I fought for every point and aware that this match has enriched me yet again - like actually all the other matches I played against Serena so far. I respect her a lot ever since I was a little girl - and even more so now, when after all this time, she is still the world's number one,'' Halep wrote on the social network.
The Romanian player thanked her supporters in the American tour that saw her win in Indian Wells (California) and reach the semifinals in Miami (Florida), in what represent her best results so far in the Premier Mandatory category.
''I thank everyone who came to support me, everyone who spent sleepless nights to watch me from home and all those who encouraged me to get so far,'' concluded Simona.
Simona Halep was taken down 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 by world leader Serena Williams, on Thursday night in the Miami Open semifinals. AGERPRES
