Bucharest, April 4 /Agerpres/ - Emblematic radio producer Paul Grigoriu died on the evening of April 3, the National Radio Broadcaster announced.
Novelist, journalist and radio producer Paul Grigoriu was born on March 6, 1945 in Bacau. After graduating in 1963 from the city's ''George Bacovia" high-school, he became in 1964 a student of the Faculty of Romance, Classical and Oriental Languages - French-Spanish section, of the University of Bucharest, completing his studies in 1969. In 1969 he also attended Academie de Bordeaux - Université de Pau (France) on a scholarship.
Beginning with 1969, he is a newsman, reporter and editor with the French Section of Radio Romania International newsdesk of the Romanian National Radio Broadcaster; for 30 years, until 1989, he also did summer entertainment broadcasts for the Mamaia Radio Vacation channel.
After December 1989 he was deputy Director general of the four channels of the National Radio Broadcaster (News of the Day, Culture, Youth, Music). On April 18, 2002 he resigned his position as director of the "Radio Romania News of the Day'' channel.
A producer and presenter of the programs "Matinal/Early Hours" (initiated on March 26, 1990) and "Sfertul academic/The Academic Quarter'' (2002-2008), aired by Radio Romania News of the Day. His popular show "Matinal" introduced the Western journalism style into the national broadcaster's shows.
He made his poetic debut in the "Amfiteatru/Amphitheater" magazine in 1967, and his first published volume was ''Anatomia unei strazi/Anatomy of a Street'' (1992), followed by the books "Un romantic la Paris. Vara franceza/A Romantic in Paris. French Summer" (1998), "Radiografii 1969 - 1989/X-ray Photos. 1969-1989" published in (2000), and "Mostenirea tinichigiului/The Tinker's Legacy'' (2000).
Paul Grigoriu was a member of the Union of Professional Journalists. In June 1999 Grigoriu was presented with the "Pamfil Seicaru" national award for print and audiovisual media.
According to the biography released by Radio Romania News of the Day, he was honored with the Order of Cultural Merit and the Order of Faithful Service (2008).
In March 2012 he received the title of honorary citizen of Bacau city.
Paul Grigoriu was the last time on air in the ''National Arena'' show broadcast on Sunday, March 29, 2015 by the Radio Romania News of the Day channel. AGERPRES
