Bucharest, Nov 2 /Agerpres/ - President Traian Basescu claims there were grave organizational impairments regarding the electoral process in the polling stations abroad and that the resignation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Titus Corlatean and of Minister-Delegate for Romanians Everywhere Bogdan Stanoevici is in order.
According to a release of the Presidential Administration, President Traian Basescu has carefully followed the electoral process for the election of the President of Romania that took place on Sunday both in the country and abroad.
"Mr. President Traian Basescu notes that there were grave organizational impairments of the electoral process in the polling stations abroad, where necessary materials and sufficient personnel were not properly ensured. Furthermore, the small number of polling stations abroad led to a large number of Romanians not being able to exercise their right to vote. Mr. President Traian Basescu notes, furthermore, impairments in ensuring the [adequate number of] forms for the statements made on own responsibility in numerous polling stations in the country", the Presidential Adminstration mentions.
The head of state emphasizes that "the noted shortcomings have hindered Romanian citizens from exercising their constitutional right to choose their president".
"Given these conditions, the resignation Minister of Foreign Affairs Titus Corlatean and of Minister-Delegate for Romanians Everywhere Bogdan Stanoevici is in order", President Basescu concludes. AGERPRES
