Bucharest, March 11 /Agerpres/ - Romanian students won 32 medals, of which 5 gold, 12 silver, and 15 bronze, thus ranking first at the South Eastern Mathematical Olympiad for University Students - SEEMOUS.
The competition hosted between March 5 and 9 by the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi (northeastern Romania) gathered 99 students from Bulgaria, Greece, Iran, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine, grouped in 25 teams.
'I am glad that the Romanian mathematics school once again confirmed the value it has demonstrated in time in many international competitions, either for junior and senior pupils or for university students. The fact that there is continuity in the achievement of outstanding results demonstrates that we have a base and a performance-oriented philosophy,' the Minister Delegate for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Development Mihnea Costoiu wrote on his Facebook page, referring to the Romanian students' performance.
