Social Democrat Victor Socaciu and Liberal Matei Bratianu abstained from voting.
According to the decision made within USL, the parliamentarians will set off the strike after the plenary sittings of the two Chambers, in which they will announce their decision.
At the same time, the USL leaders decided that the Union parliamentarians would not participate in the works of the Parliament plenum, the committees and the two Standing Bureaus.
PSD leader Victor Ponta was the one who submitted to vote the proposal for parliamentary protest, 'which will theoretically be unfolding over an indeterminate period of time, until the abuses of the current regime cease.'
'By keeping our parliamentarian mandate we can participate in the come back to normality, we can file a censure motion for the change of the current Government, we can and we shall participate with our vote in any kind of constitutional procedure leading to early elections, we can and we shall participate with our signatures in any kind of procedure leading to the suspension of the President in office, we can and we shall participate with our signatures in contesting with the Constitutional Court and with the relevant institutions the unconstitutional laws adopted by the Government and if it is about extremely important international treaties that Romania must ratify we shall come back to voting,' Ponta said in the USL parliamentarians' meeting.
The actual protest will consist of the USL parliamentarians not attending the works of the Standing Bureaus, the plenum and the committees, but they will authorize a representative - a leader or a vice leader - to monitor the works unfolding, in order to be informed.
The USL Parliament members will be present on the days of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in their groups and will be working on the draft laws that will be adopted in the future legislature.
Ponta added that the USL parliamentarians' participation in the international representation actions would be strictly limited to what was connected with the national interests - the Council of Europe, NATO Parliamentary Assembly - or the protocol actions and that any other travels abroad would cease, the group leaders needing to monitor this situation.
