"Romania claims that NATO should pay close attention to the region where Romania is located, we are backing the open door policy for the western Balkans states, we are backing a solution to strengthen Georgia's position as an ally," said the Romanian president during the joint press conference held after the meeting he had with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmunssen.
"The security issue of the Black Sea, which we are discussing on a regional level with our Turkish and Bulgarian allies, must remain in the attention of the Chicago summit, along with all its implications, including the energy security," the Romanian Head of State said.
President Traian Basescu met NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmunssen on Monday in Brussels and he is to attend an informal meeting of the European Council in the afternoon. AGERPRES
