"We have just one goal as far as Moldova is concerned, specifically its moving towards EU accession and that it is able to catch up with the group of the Western Balkan countries, ie Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, which are in various stages of rapprochement to the EU,' said the Romanian head of state.
Attending on Wednesday the Annual Summit of Romanian Diplomats, President Traian Basescu asked the ambassadors to explain in the capital cities where they are sent on mission the reasons why the Romania backs the Republic of Moldova's EU accession process.
"What I am asking of you is to explain the reasons why Romania wants this, the reasons why Romania has so much simplified the procedure for the award of citizenship to people who were deprived of Romanian citizenship without wanting that. The reasons why we speak the same language, have the same culture, why we bow on both sides of the Prut to honor Eminescu or Steven the Great. You are bound to explain this to the world's capitals," said the head of state. AGERPRES
