'All the areas of the society's development have been seriously hit by the governmental action or non-action. As I said at the beginning of 2009, Romania - with the then-participation of the Social Democratic Party (PSD, currently in opposition) - took steps backwards, was taken into chaos and today there is utter discontent over this rule, in all the social categories. Any attempt to make the public believe there is a good part or a less bad part in the PDL, that there is a reform phenomenon inside this party cannot be credible for us as long as we are dealing with a party that behaves like a state party, a party that is directly and constantly led by (President) Traian Basescu and his cronies and therefore the PNL has resisted the temptation to rule', Antonescu said.
The Liberal leader added that the opposition parties could benefit from the popular discontent and from the erosion of the current Government, but he pointed out it is the opposition's duty to do what it can so as to offer a solution to the current situation.
'We are willing to take action in Parliament in order to remove the Emil Boc Government, but for this action to be solid, serious and to really open the prospect of a good governing of Romania it should be preceded by discussions, by preparations /.../ that should offer us continuity and the possibility to act the day after the possible fall of the Boc Government. Our obligation to the citizens of Romania is not only to remove the Boc Government so that Traian Basescu might try other experiments with the same group, with the same clique, with the same cronies and the same means, but our duty is to offer a viable alternative', Antonescu said.AGERPRES

Leader of the opposition National Liberal Party (PNL) Crin Antonescu slammed the governmental activity of the ruling Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) and said that the party's attempts to make everybody believe that there is a ‘reform phenomenon' inside the PDL are not credible as long as it behaves like a state party.
