The CET Govora thermal power plant will be allotted 57 million euros for retooling through the Sectoral Operational Programme (SOP) for Environment, a process that is to be carried out observing all the EU regulations in the field.

"Some 57 million euros will be allotted through the SOP for Environment for electrostatic rehabilitation, desulphurisation using a large equipment to be installed and for making the coal boilers comply with environmental standards. In fact, all the paperwork for this project will be sent to Brussels by October 1 and, thus, we will be going straight with this funding from then on," manager of CET Govora Mihai Balan said.

According to Balan, through this investment the turnover and, consequently, the safety of the consumers - USG, Oltchim chemical plant and the people of Ramnicu Valcea (north-west of Bucharest) - will go up. He also announced that the main consumer, Oltchim, would restart its activity this autumn.

"Oltchim was also a topic on the Ministry of Economy Thursday's agenda. I do not make other comments except that things are on the right track and Oltchim will restart its activity this autumn. This is a sure thing and what makes me glad, what makes us at Oltchim glad, is that production will increase and, as they say, we are basically recovering," the CET Govora manager pointed out.AGERPRES
