The Romanian Institute of Culture (ICR) and Humanistic Research in Venice, in partnership with La Fenice Theatre and Venezia Marketing & Eventi, organizes the Dimitrie Cantemir festival of Balkan music as part of this year's carnival in Venice. Four prestigious music groups will attend: Jordi Savall & Hesperion XXI, from Spain, the Maraghi group, from Italy, the Bezmara group, from Turkey, and the Anton Pann group, from Romania.

The concerts included in the programme of the festival will be given on February 10-13, 2012, at the prestigious La Fenice Theatre in Venice.

During the opening concert of the Dimitrie Cantemir festival of Balkan music, which will be given by Jordi Savall & Hesperion XXI, the Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice will organize the ceremony awarding the distinctions Romania's President Traian Basescu conferred on Cristiano Chiarot, president of La Fenice Theatre, and on Jordi Savall in recognition of their special merits in promoting the culture and image of Romania.

The Romanian Cultural Institute supports the above-mentioned event financially. AGERPRES
