'I believe Romanians voted for someone from USL and again someone from USL should lead the Senate. We will certainly have proposals on Monday. As PSD national leader, not as the prime minister, I will endorse for chairman a senator who ran on the USL tickets , because that is how the people voted,' Ponta said.
He added that he does not write off the candidacy for the Senate's chairmanship of any senator who ran on the USL tickets, with just one exception.
'There is just one person I write off, because he came to me and told me very clearly that he does not want to run. It is about Mr Sarbu, the group leader. All the others having run on USL tickets may ran for the chairmanship. It is impossible to me to tell you now who that will be,' said Ponta.
He added that there is no agreement between PSD and the Conservative Party (PC) on the Senate's chairmanship.
'The agreement with the PC was between PC and Mr Antonescu and the National Liberal Party (PNL). It is them to have signed an agreement with PNL and PC and they will endorse a PC member for Senate chairman,' added Ponta. AGERPRES
