The Romanian Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife, MEP Daciana Sarbu, Minister of Environment Rovana Plumb, MEP Corina Cretu and Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean.
Ponta also met Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State.
The Prime Minister's visit to the Vatican lasted for about an hour and a half.
Premier Victor Ponta is in Rome since Thursday, for a three-day official visit that included on Saturday a meeting with his Italian counterpart Matteo Renzi.
Victor Ponta's Italian agenda also includes the participation, as chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), in the Congress of the Party of European Socialists that will officially designate the common candidate for the position of European Commission President. AGERPRES
