Adrian Ionut Vaduva is a military with the Red Scorpions Company and has, alongside his comrades, been carrying out a mission to protect the Kandahar airport.

"During a patrolling mission conducted on Saturday, February 22, Corporal Vaduva Ionut Adrian with the Red Scorpions detachment found and marked the place where an improvised explosive device was put and thus his comrades in arms who were to cross the area were able to avoid the danger. Corporal Vaduva announced the existing danger and marked the location of the makeshift bomb, thus ensuring the safety and freedom of movement of the coalition forces", the ministry said.

The Romanian troop was bestowed the Hero of the Day title by the ISAF South Regional Command commanders for his deed.

Several troops with the Craiova-based 26th Neagoe Basarab Infantry Battalion, dubbed The Red Scorpions left at the end of last year for the last mission in Afghanistan aimed at protecting the Kandahar Airport.AGERPRES
