The heritage of the Cismigiu Park of Bucharest will be revitalized on Norwegian grants, through the participation of the Capital City Hall in a project worth 2 million euros, after the municipal councillors in the meeting on Thursday adopted a draft resolution in this respect.

'We hereby approve the participation of the Municipality of Bucharest in the project 'The preservation and revitalization of the cultural and natural heritage of Cismigiu Park,' by accessing Norwegian grants. The project will be 100 percent endorsed by non-refundable funding through grants of the Norwegian Government of the total eligible costs of the project. The total value of the project accounts for 2 million euros,' the project provides.
According to the specialist report of the project, in the landscape of Bucharest, the historic park of Cismigiu is defined as an iconic element, keeper of a natural, traditional and, at the same time, cultural capital, being a landmark space in the central area of the Capital.
Placed on the list of historic monuments in the Capital, mentioned in documents of the time of Prince Matei Basarab (1632-54), the Cismigiu Garden was gradually developed and completed in terms of landscape in 1847 by gardener Wilhelm Mayer, Director of the Imperial Gardens of Vienna, the cited source also reads.
