Within this context, Antonescu voiced hope that the Social Democrat Party (PSD) wishes to preserve USL; he stressed that the Liberals will penalize any stray that might endanger the rule of law, according to a release received by Agerpres.
'Therefore, the Liberal members of Parliament will continue to take the necessary steps to reject the Amnesty and Pardon Law by the Chamber of Deputies,' the release reads.
The two officials exchanged opinions on the internal political stage, the situation in Ukraine, and the ways of enhancing the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States of America.
'During the talks, the PNL chairman underlined that since the foundation of USL the Liberals have been loyal partners in the Government and in Parliament; he reiterated his hope that the other major party of the coalition, PSD, actually wishes to preserve the alliance, thus complying with the massive vote for USL, which conferred legitimacy to the current Government,' the release states.
