The first anti-aging product in the world, the Gerovital cream, won the title of Superbrand 2013 in the personal care category as part of the assessment made by Superbrands Romania every year for acknowledging the brands scoring special performances.

According to a press release the Farmec Company, headquartered in Cluj-Napoca (central Romania), sent to Agerpres, Gerovital has a more than 40 year long tradition and has become in the meantime one of the best known Romanian brands nationally and internationally.

'We are extremely honoured with the success of Gerovital, a brand boasting an extraordinary tradition and performances, but also a brand that has the capability to reinvent itself permanently. The Superbrands experts and the consumers that were questioned appreciated Garovital as being a reliable brand that differentiates itself on the market, which motivates us to find innovating solutions that should keep us in the classification of their preferences,' the above-mentioned source quoted managing director of Farmec in Cluj-Napoca Mircea Turdean as saying.

The above-mentioned study was made in the second half of 2013, when the Superbrands Council, which is includes 25 experts in marketing, communication, branding and business, assessed the brands depending on a number of criteria that were applied internationally.

'In a second stage of the research, 1,500 consumers aged between 18 and 54 voiced their preferences as part of a market research carried out by IPSOS in order to identify the brands that are eligible for the Superbrand status,' reads the release mentioned before.

Some of the personalities that used the Gerovital cream, which was created by Ana Aslan, are Charlie Chaplin, Greta Garbo, Salvador Dali, Ronald Reagan, Charles de Gaulle or Aristoteles Onassis.

Farmec ended the year 2013 with a turnover amounting to 138 million lei, by 14 percent more than the 121 million lei the previous year. The representatives of the company assign this result to the investments made in the past few years and to the products launched in 2013.
