General Philip M. Breedlove, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), said on Thursday that as ISAF withdraws in the next 11 months, the NATO's operational tempo will decrease and will probably be more reduced over the next 10 years.

"From the position of SACEUR, I am aware that as ISAF withdraws in following 11 months, the NATO's operational tempo will decrease and will probably be more reduced over the next 10 years. My priority in the medium and long term is to make sure that we have troops trained in alliance for the missions that will follow over the next 10 years and beyond. ( ... ) Congratulations and thank you for your 10 years' celebration of NATO admission this year. I am continuously impressed with how Romania has managed to contribute to all NATO and ISAF missions in Afghanistan, Baltic air police missions, the Defence Act exercise in Turkey, Ocean Field in the Mediterranean Sea, the contribution to the NATO's response force. The fact that you have become part of the missile defense system is one of your best contributions," Philip M. Breedlove said at the National Defence Ministry's HQ, within some press statements.

According to him, the United States relies on Romania to continue to help its neighbours to share the same values of NATO.

"I am also convinced that [Romania] will succeed in strengthening the ties between Europe and the North Atlantic Alliance. At the Mihail Kogalniceanu Base, your nation is supporting the transit operations helping ISAF. Moreover, your nation was also the host of the Black Sea Rotational Force exercise, clear examples of Romania's commitment to ISAF missions and to ensuring international and regional security. At Deveselu (southern Romania), the AEGIS system is an integrating part of the NATO missile defense system. The works on this base are on schedule, meet budgetary projections and I am sure that it will be ready in 2015," the Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in Europe added.

General Philip M. Breedlove, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, met on Thursday, at the National Defence Ministry's HQ, Defence Minister Mircea Dusa. The Romanian official said that among the topics tackled in his discussions with Philip M. Breedlove were the NATO objectives after 2014.AGERPRES
